AIRGAS CALVERT CITY / WESTERN KENTUCKY

We were recently hired freelance, as a lead photographer for the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening for the newly built Airgas facility in Calvert City, Kentucky.  Airgas, an Air-Liquide company, is a leading U.S. supplier of industrial gases, welding technologies, and safety products. Internationally they are a world leader in gases and technology, and they service the industrial and healthcare fields.

I'd have to say my favorite part of covering this event was probably the guided tour of the new facilities. Ever since my early days as a photographer I've had an affinity for photographing industrial subject matter. If the power and technology behind something of this magnitude isn't enough to justify a photographers curiosity,  then the sheer volume of lines and repetition surely is. It's an endless sea of angles and possibility for capturing photos.

Striking the balance between visual story telling and highlighting the new technology incorporated into the new plant was ultimately the goal for this assignment.
